Guattari-Wiki:About
Guattari-Wiki is the wiki website dedicated to cataloging the theory and biographic details of French psychoanalyst philosopher Félix Guattari (1930-1992).
Why Guattari-Wiki?
Félix Guattari is a creative and deeply rewarding writer, with many interesting social, political and aesthetic ideas. However, his work is notoriously difficult and inaccessible due to his frequent, diverse references to complex theoretical literature and challenging writing style. He has also always suffered from obscurity because of the nature of his work and being eclipsed by his colleague Gilles Deleuze, which has lead him to being poorly understood by many.
This wiki is intended to make his work more accessible by presenting an introduction to his life work, through his ideas, practice, his references and more. In addition, Guattari-Wiki intends to serve as a historical resource to chronicle his life's work, including transitions in his theory and practice. It will also include information on published secondary discussion surrounding his solo work. Guattari-Wiki is not intended to be an authoritative resource on interpreting the work of Guattari. Rather, it is meant to serve as an easily accessible resource to introduce newcomers to the subject, its history and its discourse.

User Registration and Editing
User registration is publicly closed for Guattari-Wiki. This is because Guattari-Wiki is interested in historical archival of Guattari's work and offering a surface for a wide range of people to engage with his ideas. It is critical that what we present on this wiki is as historically accurate as possible as well as presenting his ideas and the multiplicity of its interpretations as accurately as possible. His work is particularly vulnerable to being misrepresented due to a relative lack of awareness of his work in English and high potential for vandalism through certain social movements. As a result, we are only interested in a narrow group of possible editors, including:
- People with significant academic presence in Deleuze and Guattari studies, preferably with some focus on Félix Guattari.
- Translators familiar with the work of Félix Guattari, including Guattari translators themselves.
- People with personal or familial ties with Félix Guattari.
- People with an otherwise significant presence in the discourse surrounding Félix Guattari.
If you happen to fall into one or more of these following categories, we are very interested in having you come on board! If you are interested in contributing towards Guattari-Wiki, please send a proposal to Roger at [email protected] introducing who you are, what your background is and what contributions you want to make to the wiki. Please note that Roger's preferred language is English, and his French is somewhat limited. If communicating in French, he may depend on a friend's or machine translations to get you set up.
